- Established the right baseline through a materiality assessment and an emissions recalculation to identify the highest-impact procurement levers and define a practical action roadmap.
- Assessed procurement, operations, and stakeholder capabilities against recognised sustainable procurement principles, including ISO 20400.
- Redesigned policy and process to embed responsible procurement requirements into sourcing, supplier management, and governance workflows.
- Introduced digital enablement through the implementation of a supplier sustainability rating platform (EcoVadis) to strengthen visibility, measurement, and supplier accountability.
- Built internal capability via targeted workshops, practical tools, coaching, and category-level support to translate ambition into execution.
Outcomes
- Established a fully integrated Sustainable Procurement framework aligned with the client’s public-sector operating model.
- The approach aligned to GRI standards, ISO 14000, ISO 26000, OHSAS 18001, SA 8000, ISO 20400 for enhancement of policies and processes.
- Positioned procurement to support an 50% Scope 3 carbon reduction ambition by 2030 through category-level action and supplier engagement.
- Strengthened supplier transparency through structured sustainability measurement and more rigorous performance tracking.
- Equipped the procurement team with fit-for-purpose templates, governance, and capabilities to sustain the transformation over time.
